The Museum of the Fathers and Majolica opened in 2003 and is situated in the Art Institute of Laterza. The museum is divided into two sections. The first section holds important prehistoric archaeological findings relating to the Neolithic settlements of Fragenaro and to the Haemolytic necropolis of Candile. The second section deals with the local production of porcelain. Laterza has a long tradition of pottery, which is attested by ancient relics from Ancient Greece and the Middle Ages. Of particular importance is the Laertina Figurine from the period between the 17th and 18th centuries.
